On my endless quest for stylish yet inexpensive clothes, I really needed something comfortable and functional for the summer after having a baby. My absolute favorite thing to wear is the cami dress! Here’s why…
- Dresses just feel good…feminine and pretty!
- The breezy style is ideal for summertime, and comfortable
- The back is smocked (gathered fabric), making a great fit for the chest
- The waistline is high, so it looks flattering over the postpartum tummy
- There are lots of styles available
- It’s actually affordable.
Here are my personal faves! Also, here’s a disclaimer…I am no model or professional photographer, so I did my best to quickly snap these photos just so you can see the styles (all while my little one screamed for her nap time, eek). I hope that it just makes it more relatable and real, but if you have any photo tips for me, please let me know!
Cooperative (Urban Outfitters) orange/pink striped linen dress
I bought it on eBay for about half of the original price, so I highly recommend eBay. Did you know that everyday on eBay, a dress is purchased every 6 seconds? So I’m not the only one who knows this savvy fashion secret! And if you’re like me (you know exactly what you want), you can simply save your search (include your size), and eBay will email you if there’s a match. That’s how I found this beauty…I didn’t have to search everyday. The dress came to me, like magic! I love this dress because of the large pockets, the buttons that make nursing a cinch, and it’s just cute. Lauren Conrad has a similar striped dress at Kohls here. I just love LC clothes…she and I seem to have the exact same taste. Also, Urban Outfitters now has this dress.
Old Navy blue/white striped cotton dress w/ ruffled hem
This was a steal at $8.99 in the store, but it’s also online here. I’ve wanted a blue & white stripe dress for just about forever. Lauren Conrad wore a beautiful blue & white striped Ulla Johnson dress for her baby shower. Have I mentioned how much I love LC?! I still want a long dress like that, but this one is great for now. It’s very light and airy and I love the ruffled hem and nautical feel.
Old Navy pale pink palm leaf print rayon dress
It was 30% off, at $20.99 and I couldn’t resist it. Special sizes aren’t available in store, so that’s a big benefit of shopping online (I was quite happy to get a tall). I love the flouncy quality of the dress and the fun print. Normally I have a hard time with rayon shrinking in the wash, but this one does just fine if you follow the instructions, so no need to buy a size up. Which of these 3 is your favorite and why? Or do you have your own favorite summer outfit? Let me know with a comment!
