Monogram Wreath

Monogram Wreath Feature Image

Even though this is a very simple craft, I tried various materials for the monogram which all failed until I finally figured out the right thing, and that material is…

A PLASTIC PLACEMAT! I think it might be my new favorite crafting material. It’s durable but thin enough that it’s easy to cut. You could also use the peel-and-stick tiles from Dollar Tree.

To make this wreath, you just need a few things:

Materials
(1) Plastic Placemat
(1) Wooden Wreath
Clear String (for hanging)
Acrylic Paint (whichever color you like)

Supplies
Printer/Paper
Permanent Marker
Glue (something strong but not hot glue if the wreath will go on the front door)
Xacto Knife & Cutting Board
Scissors
Paintbrush

The placemats I’ve seen recently are 2-sided, so I used an old one I already had to get solid white (from the non-printed back side), so if you can’t find that, just choose a light-colored & subtle pattern print.

Before starting, consider where your wreath will go and what kind of look you want overall. I put mine on my front door which is black, so the contrast of the green frame and the white monogram looks very sharp with it.

Once you decide on colors, paint your wreath however you like. Allow to dry.

Make your monogram letter…you can search in Google Images for “monogram + [your letter]” and choose one you like. I made mine in Photopea just to make it an outline, and it’s my favorite font, Murray Hill. Print it to the right size to be able to glue on top of the wreath frame.

Cut it out then flip it to the wrong side, then trace it with the permanent marker on the wrong side of the placemat. Cut it out with scissors and use the Xacto knife for any small inner sections.

Glue the monogram on top of the wreath frame & allow to set. Cut a small piece of clear string and tie it to the top for hanging. And that’s the entire craft! What does yours look like?
